Working on the illustration, I first use pencil to draw on paper, then trimmed it with ink pen. I chose to draw Fly Agaric, the Blewit and Amanita Caesarea.

I love a centerpiece in a square artwork. To show the drawings, I planned to frame it in black box frames. However, it turned out very compressing. I also thought of putting fake grass and tiny models and decoration into the frame to make the work more interesting. but it caught too much attention on the work.

Finally, I made panels in the wood workshop. I used spray mount to mount the paper onto the panel. Instead of just sticking the paper onto the panel, I did another series, painting the mushrooms in colours using acrylic. The result is very satisfying, with the solid acrylic colours on the wood.

Reference artist: Takashi Murakami

Takashi Murakami is a Japanese contemporary artist. He works in Fine Arts media (such as painting and Sculpture) as well as commercial media (such as fashion, merchandise, and animation) and is known for blurring the line between high and low art.

Some of his famous artworks are "Tan Tan Bo", which is a lithograph print, "An Homage to IKB", offset lithograph printed in colours on smooth wove paper and "Flowers in Heaven" offset colou lithograph. He creates characters like Mr DOB, Tan Tan Bo and flowers. His works are recognised worldwide in a very cartoon style, making his work so iconic and further into a brand.

Referencing his work makes me want to do more acrylic on panel, creating mushroom characters, draw in excess and try illustration.
