The Hidden Paradise of Amanita Muscaria, Oil on Cavnas

The Hidden Paradise of Mycena Interrupta, Oil on Cavnas
The above two paintings are the main focus of all works in my degree show. It is a set of two waterfalls and mushroom paradise painting.
In the past, I used to fo my paintings in deals, but after "Psychedelic Mushrooms", I carried on with the freestyle and the way of painting using loose brushstrokes. It is a new challenge for me to change to this style. I found it difficult to find a finishing point where the work is not high in details but felt well completed. Changing the style encourages me to search for different types of painters for reference. As I visited the Scottish National Gallery, I took reference from Paul Bril, a more classic landscape painter.
Adding mushrooms to my painting is key. They are in more details. The red in "The Hidden Paradise of Amanita Muscaria" contrast with the blue background, pops out a lot. However, the effect of "The Hidden Paradise of Mycena Interrrupta" is not that successful.
Painting the waterfall, , I looked at the Niagara Falls and Foz do Iguacu. Rather than doing a realistic waterall, I adjusted the colour of the water to turquoise and purplish blue, a more surreal approach, and to match the colour with the sky.
