The Glow of the Other World
"The Glow of the Other World" is my first try on Psychedelic art and pouring art. This painting is one of the works I show in my degree show and was exhibited in the interim show "62 Hands".
For the main element of the painting, I chose Fly Agaric. It is always the dominant illustration of fairy tales. Fly Agaric contains of magical colours, it pops up a lot with the contrast to the green in the background.

The Glow of the Other World, Oil on Cavnas

Bright and highly contrasting colours are used in the psychedelic art, also for surreal images and swirling patterns of psychedelic states of consciousness. I experiment with different colour combinations, as shown beside. I chose yellow, light green, pink and neon orange as my colour scheme. I mixed the oil paint with PVA glue and lots of oil, to create a liquidity ad thick consistency I want. Following how the pouring art is done, I first tried pouring the paint onto the canvas but it was too thick. Then I added more oil and poured and created circular patterns, to imitate the effect of pouring art. It turned out to be very deceptive and unreal.
